Your mill is your CMM.
BluSpot turns a probe-equipped CNC into a first-article inspection station — balloon the drawing, probe the part, and ship an AS9102 FAIR with a verdict you can defend. Without leaving Fusion.
Engineered-exact math (error ≤ 4×10⁻¹⁶) · Matches native controller results to the 5th decimal · AS9102 Forms 1·2·3 out
You get a drawing. You need a FAIR. You don't have a CMM.
Every aerospace RFQ wants an AS9102 package. Today that means hours of ballooning by hand, measuring with calipers, retyping numbers into Excel — or turning the job down. A CMM fixes it for $60–150k. Your mill already has a probe.
Built in a garage, for the reasons you'd guess.
The bolt circle.
“My first mill lived in my garage. The day I needed to verify a bolt-hole pattern, I priced my options: a CMM I couldn't fit, couldn't power, and couldn't remotely afford — or pin gauges, a height stand, trig, and an afternoon of hoping. The machine that cut the pattern knew exactly where those holes were. It just had no way to tell me. BluSpot is that way. Probe the pattern, get the bolt-circle diameter and every hole's true position, on the machine, in minutes.”
The QC ping-pong.
“In production the part comes off the machine, walks to QC, waits in line, comes back, gets re-fixtured — and every re-clamp is a chance to lose the very accuracy you're trying to prove. Meanwhile the spindle sits still. Probe it in the setup instead: the part never moves, the verdict happens at the machine, and QC reviews a report instead of a queue.”
Drawing to FAIR in four moves.
Balloon
Drop in the drawing PDF. Click to balloon; lasso a callout and OCR reads it into the plan. GD&T frames included.
Probe
Run your probe routine (Renishaw / Hurco / CSV). Points import with tip compensation and land on the model — registered to your setup.
Verdict
Features fit by least squares; every characteristic graded against tolerance with measurement uncertainty honored (ISO 14253-1 guard bands). Green / amber / red on the part, like bluing on a scrape.
Report
Export the branded AS9102 FAIR: Forms 1, 2, 3, balloons on the drawing, evidence attached, signature-ready.
Measure with confidence.
Worst error across the engineered exactness suite — the floor of computer arithmetic itself.
BluSpot vs the machine controller's native result on a real first article. Same number, fifth decimal.
Pass / fail / cannot prove — if the data can't support the call, BluSpot says so instead of guessing.
BluSpot assists inspection on a machine tool; it is not a certified CMM and never pretends to be. The math is exact — the metrology discipline stays yours.

Is this a certified CMM?
No — and we say so on the report. BluSpot is shop-floor first-article verification and pre-CMM screening on the machine you already own. The arithmetic is provably exact; the probe and blocks are your calibration story.
What machines and controllers?
Anything that can output probe points: Renishaw Inspection (plus Fusion CAM Surface Inspect), Hurco WinMax, generic CSV. More on request.
Does it need Fusion?
Yes — BluSpot is a Fusion add-in (Windows now, macOS next).
Where does my data live?
On your machine. Reports are yours; nothing CAD leaves your shop. Licensing pings our server with an account id — that's it.
Who's behind it?
SoftJaw Design, a Houston machine shop. We built BluSpot to win our own aerospace work — then productized it.
